Rwenzori Mountains Park

Located in southwestern Uganda on the east side of the western Albertine Rift Valley is the most popular mountain park in Uganda- Rwenzori Mountains National Park. Occupying up to 1,000 km2 of land sprawling across Kabarole, Kasese and Bundibugyo, Rwenzori National Park is a UNESCO heritage site and home of the Rwenzori Mountains– Africa’s third highest peak. The amazing peaks, stunning waterfalls, lakes, glaciers and beautiful plant life all make this the best park to visit for hiking adventures in Uganda.

Some of the top activities to do when in Rwenzori Mountains National Park include mountain hiking which can be done through the 9-day and 6-day circuit trail, research, bird watching, community visits and camping adventures.

Getting there– There are two routes you can use to get to the park from Kampala and these include passing via Mubende to Fort Portal which is about 300km with a road trip lasting about 4 hours and another route via Masaka-Mbarara-Bushenyi to Kasese which is about 350km with road trip lasting about 6 hours.
